Quality Manager

Job Description

The Quality Manager s primary function will be to direct and manage the quality assurance activities for the facility, insuring that the production of semi-trailers is consistent with established quality standards. The Quality Manager will report to the Plant Manager. Primary Position Responsibilities:

-The Quality Manager is responsible to plan, direct, coordinate and otherwise manage the efforts of the people and the processes involved in product quality assurance consistent with customer specifications and product quality standards including establishing and monitoring internal inspection procedures and auditing trailers and trailer components.

-Coordinate the efforts of the Quality Department to insure quality assurance processes are adequate, understood and followed so that the production line meets or exceeds goals.

-Manages the relationship and communication flow between the Quality Department and all other departments.

-Applies process control data gathering, analysis and problem solving methods, using Lean Manufacturing principles.

-Monitor current internal quality control procedures and reporting processes for effectiveness.

-Identify issues and engage necessary departments and people in problem solving. Assist in identifying, justifying and implementing changes in design, work processes, equipment, inspection methods and frequency that have greatest impact on product quality and customer satisfaction.

-Coordinate with vendors to insure they understand our plant s quality standards and that they supply parts / materials that meet or exceed those standards. Engage vendors in audit visits to the manufacturing plant, training and problem solving. Schedules these visits at least quarterly.

-Investigate, report on and assist in resolving customer complaints within the Quality Assurance purview.

-Manage the competency testing processes for some production tasks.

-Coordinate efforts of teams in responsibility areas to insure process and standards are consistent for all shifts.

-Participate in, assist in and monitor Team participation in all safety and health programs, recognition programs, quality and improvement initiatives, training and certification, and changes in process that affect people in scope of responsibility.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

-Bachelor s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in business management, quality management, process engineering or relevant field. Equivalent associate degree plus experience in related field will be considered.

-Expertise as shown by work experience in ISO standards, Lean manufacturing and like principles.

-3 years work experience in management or supervision of people and processes.

-Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook. Proficient in database usage.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

-Ability to see, walk, speak, hear and perform other physical activity consistent with the job tasks and working conditions.

-Ability to use hands to perform tasks such as writing, typing on a keyboard, using a computer and using the telephone.

-Ability to work a 10 to 12 hour shift.

-Ability to work in a constant state of alertness.

WORKING CONDITIONS

-Hours of work coincide with assigned production shift. Must often begin work prior to production shift start and remain after shift end.

-The work schedule requirement is 10-12 hours per day, 4-5 days per week. Average hours worked per week is 45. Some weeks will be as high as 60 hours.

-50% of time is spent seated at a desk or table.

-Hazard exposures are primarily ambient such as noise, sparks and forklift traffic. 5-10% of the time the individual may engage in actual production work increasing exposure. All protective devices and equipment are congruent with those of the production worker.

-Must dress and present oneself in a professional manner. Must wear safety toe footwear.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
