Preventive Maintenance Coordination Specialist

Job Description


The Preventive Maintenance Coordination Specialist plans, schedules and coordinates maintenance activities and administers the Computerized Maintenance Management System (Maximo).

Key Responsibilities:

Administers the Computerized Maintenance Management System (Maximo) system including entering data, maintaining data integrity, adding system users and training new system users.

Analyze data in the Maximo system for improved maintenance department efficiency and cost.

Plans/ schedules preventative maintenance activities including purchasing materials for planned efforts.

Administers and assists plant management in enforcement of contractor safety/ security program.

Assists the MRO (Materials Required for Operations) Buyer including acting as a backup in that person s absence.

Assists in maintaining the safety and the quality of the maintenance department continuous improvement activities.


Qualifications and Job Requirements:

Ability to utilize a complicated computer database system for analyzing and planning activities.

Understanding of repair and preventative maintenance involved with production machinery, welding, spray painting, shot and glass bead blasting, fabrication equipment, crane/ hoist, forklift, building and grounds to the extent that one can effectively plan and schedule preventive and service activities.

Highly effective planning, organizing, problem solving skills.

Highly effective communication skills including meeting interaction, one to one employee interactions, written communication, email, interdepartmental interactions and cross-functional interactions.

Knowledge of occupational safety and environmental compliance and other regulations and laws that govern the workplace to the extent necessary to perform the duties expected.

Knowledge about assembly of dry freight vans or similar transportation equipment.

Experience and Education:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Post-secondary education or equivalent work/ training experience in database administration, computer/ information systems technology, and maintenance technology, supply chain, etc. or related fields is preferred.
  • Actual work experience of at least 1 year working in a field that would demonstrate the qualifications and competencies above.
  • Experience using the Maximo or similar system is highly preferred.

  • Hours of work coincide with dayshift work schedule.
  • The work schedule requirement is 10-12 hours per day, 4-5 days per week. Normal schedule is four 10-hour shifts per week. Average hours worked per week is 42.
  • 90% of time is spent seated/standing at a desk or table. Walking in plant to communicate and do other activities will be approximately 10% of working time.
  • Hazard exposures are primarily ambient such as noise, sparks and forklift traffic. All protective procedures, devices and equipment are congruent with those of the production worker when in the plant.
  • Must dress and present oneself in a professional manner.
  • Must wear safety toe footwear.


  • Ability to see, walk, speak, hear and perform other physical activity consistent with the job tasks and working conditions.
  • Ability to use hands to perform tasks such as writing, typing on a keyboard, using a computer and using the telephone.
  • Ability to work a 10 to 12 hour shift.
  • Ability to perform all tasks in a constant state of alertness.
